What better to do on a snow day than to make a yummy dessert.
I love keeping certain groceries in my pantry so that I can make numerous savory and sweet dishes without having to go shopping. Here is an easy recipe for a delicious dessert. You may already have some of these ingredients in your home and if you don't they are easy to purchase. All you really need is jello pudding packs and Oreos, if you cook or bake you probably already have milk and sugar in your house. If not no big deal you can easily shop for all items. After reading this you may decide it is a good idea to have some easy grocery items in your house to throw together this tasty treat.
Here is what you need:
For the crust:
1.5 cups of Oreo cookie crumbs
1/3 cup of sugar
6 tablespoons of melted butter
For the filling:
2 small packs of vanilla jello pudding (3.4 ounces each)
2 3/4 cups of milk
10 Oreo cookies broken in fourths
First you want to get started on the crust. I modified this recipe for the crust based on what I found online about how to make your own pie crust. You can use a store bought crust if you don't feel like making your own but it was definitely easily and delicious.
Grease a 8-9 inch round pie pan with pam. Set aside. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Pulse your Oreos in a food processor so they turn into fine crumbs. If you don't have a food processor you can place Oreos in a ziplock and crush with your hands or by rolling over the bag with a rolling pin. Measure 1.5 cups of crumbs and put into a bowl. Any Oreo flavor will do just fine. I used a combination of birthday cake Oreos and peanut butter Oreos because that's what I had in my pantry.

Grease a 8-9 inch round pie pan with pam. Set aside. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Pulse your Oreos in a food processor so they turn into fine crumbs. Any Oreo flavor will do just fine. I used a combination of birthday cake Oreos and peanut butter Oreos because that's what I had in my pantry.
Next add your sugar to the bowl. Melt your butter in the microwave in increments of 20 seconds so you don't burn it. Once melted add to the bowl and mix well. Mixture will resemble wet crumbs and be fairly well stuck together.
Move mixture into greased pie pan and squish with your fingers to turn into a crust. Spread it across bottom and slightly up the sides.
Bake for 10 minutes and check how it looks. Mine still looked very wiggly so I added two more minutes. It was still wiggly but I let cool and it hardened. As it was cooling I used the bottom of a spoon to press the bottom so it was more evenly distributed as the shape shifted in the oven. I then pushed the crust up the side. It then hardened in a perfect pie crust shape.
Now make your pudding. Open your two packs of jello pudding and add 2 and 3/4 cup of milk. Beat with a whisk until pudding thickens. Since my crust was still hot I put the pudding into the fridge while the crust was cooling.
Once your crust is cooled you can finish the pie. Break up 10 Oreo cookies in fourths. I used birthday cake Oreos but any will do. This flavor went nicely with the vanilla pudding. I'm sure it would be good to mix and match Oreo flavors and pudding flavors. If I come up with any more yummy combinations I will post soon. After the Oreos are broken up add to your bowl of pudding.
Mix well and then carefully pour into cooled down pie crust. Then spread carefully into pie crust.
Feel free to put an Oreo on top for decoration.
Cut in and enjoy! The first piece may be hard to cut but after that it will be much easier. Use a sharp knife to get through the crust. You may want to top with some whipped cream! Feel free to make your whipped cream in a smiley face, dessert is always a happy time (Jer's finishing touches). This tastes better with age! The next day will be even softer.
Tons of leftovers, enjoy! Leave me comments with any questions you may have!
